Wow, it is hot!

Just in case you forgot that today is the Summer Solstice, the 90 degree heat is here to remind us that it is definitely summertime.

What are your tips for staying cool in the heat?

  1. Bike commuting in the summer can be tough if you don't have a shower at the office (and who does?). I ride early and stay a little late. Okay, maybe not always late, but in the summer it's nice to get in before the hot sun starts beating down.

I avoid training or longer rides in midday sun. On the weekend ride in the morning or evening. If you have to be out in midday sun wear sunscreen. I also like to douse the shirt. That wicking action is like air conditioning. It's pretty nice.

  2. As little clothing possible. Nothing is more annoying than clothes sticking on you.

  3. My solution to hot weather riding is to go faster ;)
The higher the number on the speedometer the faster the breeze blowing across your sweaty self.

Ok seriously, I'm gonna go ahead and agree with Daniel, sweat wicking clothing coupled with a little water does wonders when you are riding.
    And don't forget the sunscreen
